Loudness emerged from Osaka in 1981, driven by guitarist Akira Takasaki and a bold wave of Japanese metal that aimed to stand beside the big rock acts of the era. The band kept an intense touring and recording schedule through the 1980s and beyond, helping to usher in a new generation of heavy guitar music in Japan and around the world.
