Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots burst out of San Diego in 1989 with a tight, hard-hitting blend of grunge, psychedelic rock, and classic blues-based rock. The original lineup - Scott Weiland on vocals, Dean DeLeo and Robert DeLeo on guitar and bass, and Eric Kretz on drums - started as Mighty Joe Young before rebranding as Stone Temple Pilots and quickly earned a following for their raw live energy and strong songwriting. Their early material combined punchy riffs with Weiland's expressive vocal delivery, setting the stage for a string of hard-hitting singles in the early 1990s.

With Core (1992) and Purple (1994), STP helped define the era that bridged grunge and traditional rock, delivering chart-topping hits like Plush, Interstate Love Song, and Vasoline. Over the years the lineup evolved, with Scott Weiland pursuing Velvet Revolver and other projects before the band reemerged with new singer Jeff Gutt in the late 2010s.
