King Diamond

King Diamond is the Danish heavy metal project formed in 1985 by vocalist Kim Bendix Petersen, who had previously fronted Mercyful Fate. The band quickly defined a theatrical, horror-infused metal aesthetic, releasing Fatal Portrait (1986) and the landmark Abigail (1987), albums that fused Petersen's falsetto with dramatic storytelling and cinematic production. Their early concept albums combined tight riffs, eerie atmospheres, and narrative arcs that invited listeners into a haunted metal world. With Them (1988) and The Eye (1990), the King Diamond universe expanded, cementing their role in shaping narrative-driven metal and influencing generations of artists across extreme metal and progressive circles.
